Have there been any wars lately in your country? Are there any wars taking place near your borders? Do you think it is possible for an armed conflict to start between your country and other countries? Do you feel your country is in danger from the part of other countries?

wp2, National College “B.P.Hasdeu”, Romania, Question:

What do you think about biological weapons?

wp3, St. John Paul II CSS, teacher Lisa Cicinelli, Canada, Question:

Today, each time we turn on the news, we are bombarded with images and stories of conflicts/wars happening all over the world. In Canada, we immediately ask why Peace is so difficult to achieve across the globe. We wonder why people / entire countries let differences and disputes escalate to the point of such extreme destruction. As Canadians, living peacefully seems only natural for us and we struggle to understand how others cannot. However, there is a saying " to never judge another person until you walk in their shoes"  and so we now ask, do you believe that there is ever a time that war can be/is justified?

wp4, St. John Paul II CSS, teacher Margaret Komza, Canada, Question:

In today's world, there are multiple conflicts that have developed into greater issues involving many countries around the world. They started as nothing more than a local problem which took on a life of their own, resulting in the involvement of other countries.

Why do citizens rebel against their governments? Is it other countries' responsibility to become involved in resolving the conflicts? To what extent?

wp5, OWLAG, South Africa, Question:

"Many conflicts in countries and regions can be traced back to religious and ethical differences."

How effective are peace organisatioins like the UN in dealing with the causes and bring about lasting peace? Substantiate your answers with examples of your findings!

wp6, Colegiul Economic Buzau, teacher Buga Mihaela, Andrei Elena, Romania, Question:

1) What are the main reasons for starting wars between countries and how can they be avoided? 2) Have there been wars in your country with major consequences?

wp7, Colegiul Economic Buzau, teachers Cristea Diana, Dinu Constantin, Romania, Question:

The existence of social conflicts in a society reveals negative aspects of that society and, therefore, of the quality of life of the population. The higher the level of indicators expressing the existence of social conflicts, the weaker are the social cohesion, solidarity and inclusion. On the contrary, the low values or the lack of conflicts are associated with high values of the social cohesion, solidarity and inclusion, with positive effects on the quality of life of the population.

Minorities constitute 11% of Romania's 23-million people, including 1.6 million ethnic Hungarians, 400,000 Gypsies (Rroma), 200,000 Germans and 30,000 Jews.
It does not take a psychologist to know that fear and denial of knowledge between communities breeds violence. Only during December 1989- 1997 in Romania took place over 30 violent ethnic conflicts in which there were attacks against Roma communities, resulting in the burning of homes and lynching of people.
But today, in 2014, these conflicts are largely were stopped, but they are still common but less violent.

Your countries are facing these types of conflicts? If so, what measures were taken to stop them?

wp8, Colegiul Economic Buzau, teacher Popa Maria, Romania, Question:

We are aware by the fact that is hard for human being to live in full peace. As we all know, the world, and society itself, has struggled since its begining to get through wars and conflicts of different types. You may think that even so, the world has always been seeking peace, but Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that ”peace in not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal”.
Could you give us an example of a conflict of any type (politica, social, etc) from your country, telling us what you would do/would have done to solve it ?

wp9, National College of Computer Science “Grigore Moisil”, Romania, Question:

Nowadays, war is not as widespread as it used to be during past centuries and peace has been established between most states. However, there still are major conflicts between ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and several NATO states including USA, England and France).

Up to now, ISIS have beheaded no less than three men, one French, one American and one English and have captured thousands of other innocent people.

a) How are we supposed to call a truce considering ISIS killed people only to make themselves noticed ?

b) In your opinion, what approach do you think NATO should approach in this situation ?

c) Given the current circumstances, how do you believe this conflict will evolve?

wp10, Colegiul Economic Buzau, teacher Nedelcu Janina, Romania, Question:

Do you think people are the reason of the war ? If so, how do you think they could bring peace on the Earth ?

wp11, Liceul Teoretic ”Nicolae Iorga”, Romania, Question:

Hello!

The Crimean crisis was an international crisis in 2014 principally involving Russia and Ukraine over the control of the Crimean Peninsula, until its annexation by Russia. The annexation occurred at culmination point in the 2014 Crimean crisis caused by a military intervention of Russia into the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, both administrative divisions of Ukraine, earlier in March. Masked green troops without insignia (the "green men"), identified as the Russian military by multiple worldwide sources, took the Supreme Council of Crimea over, which led to the installation of the pro-Russian Aksyonov government in Crimea.

Our question is: Do you think that Russia had the right to conquer Crimea using the military force?

                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Best wishes,

WP11
